Landon J. Stolar joined WNEP Newswatch 16 in July 2015 as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter and he has been busy covering the sports scene in Northeast and Central Pennsylvania ever since. From high schools to minor league baseball to Penn State football, Landon has covered it all these past few years. His commitment and dedication to his work earned him the 2021 Emmy Award for Sports Talent, as well as a half-dozen additional nominations, from the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

 

Before working at WNEP, Landon lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he worked as the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter and also sat in as the Sports Director for a year at KGAN CBS 2 and KFXA FOX 28. Covering Iowa, Iowa State and Northern Iowa, Landon also introduced the Ed Thomas Coach of the Week segment, recognizing coaches in eastern Iowa who go above and beyond their responsibilities, carrying on the legacy of the late Ed Thomas in Parkersburg, IA. Landon's work here was also nominated for a regional Emmy in 2014 in the Upper Midwest Chapter.

Landon also worked as the KTVM Sports Director for NBC Montana from 2010-2012. In Bozeman, he covered Montana StateTech and Western, as well as plenty of high school sports in beautiful Big Sky country. 

Landon began his professional career while attending the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Landon worked as the S.U. sports correspondent for Palestra.net, an online-based media company covering college news and athletics across the country. Landon reported at each home Syracuse football, basketball and lacrosse game. Several of his stories aired on ESPN U and were posted to ESPN.com.

While in college, Landon earned his Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism. He spent most of his free time working for the campus television station, CitrusTV. In addition to being on air, Landon worked as the associate producer for 'Cuse Countdown, the pre-game show for all SU football, basketball and lacrosse games. Led by Landon and his fellow producers, 'Cuse Countdown was nominated for a 2010 College Emmy Award under the category of Best News Show. 
      
From 2008 through 2009, Landon was also the voice of the Falmouth Commodores, a franchise of the Cape Cod Baseball League. As the play-by-play announcer for the team, Landon was responsible for broadcasting every game, as well as writing recaps after each game for the team website.

A zealot when it comes to all Syracuse sports, Landon is also a life-long Dallas CowboysNew York Knicks and New York Mets fan.
